On Veterans Day 1996, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF) unveiled a half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., designed to travel to communities throughout the United States. Today, Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva along with fellow colleagues joined VVMF at the California State Capitol opening ceremony of The Wall That Heals exhibition.
“As Chair of the Assembly Veterans Affairs Committee, I believe it is incredibly important to honor those who have made countless sacrifices for our country. It is our duty to serve our Veterans just as they have served us,” said Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva. The duration of The Wall That Heals exhibition – open to the public – will be from Thursday, February 27th 2014 through Sunday March 2nd, 2014, allowing for visits by families, school groups and the general public.
