Now that the City of Fullerton is finally admitting that our budget is not balanced!, contrary to Jennifer Fitzgerald’s campaign claims, this would be a good time to revisit how we got here in the first place.

The City of Fullerton website includes links for the minutes and agenda for the last four years of city council meetings and beyond and can be found here.  You’ll find that on October 20, 2015, Fitzgerald voted for the Memorandum of Agreement with the Fullerton Municipal Employees Federation 1200 (resolution 2015-52), at a cost of $5,595,576 over the next four years, and then voted for the contract at the second reading on November 3, 2015. Yesterday, one of our Friends shared a rather entertaining video clip of our lobbyist-councilwoman Jennifer “SparkFitz” Fitzgerald unburdening herself of thoughts at Grace Winter Fest. Her interlocutor is Sam Han, her former Planning Commission appointee, and the guy who stood up and said his church, Grace Ministry International, supported the bar owner’s council districting map.

On February 7th, 2017, the Fullerton City Council repealed Fullerton’s Municipal Code section which set forth certain sex offender residency restrictions within the City of Fullerton due to pending litigation that found the Municipal Code section to be unconstitutional.

That said, California Penal Code Section 3003.5, which sets forth residency restrictions and prohibits sex offenders from residing within 2,000 feet of any public or private school, or park where children regularly gather, remains steadfastly in place. Continue reading→

FULLERTON, Calif. – A man was convicted and sentenced to four years in state prison yesterday for attempting to pimp and pander and undercover police officer, whom he believed to be a minor, on a social media site. Daniel Negrete Herrera, 29, Fullerton, pleaded guilty on Feb. 6, 2017, to one felony count of attempted pimping and one felony count of pandering by procuring.

A Buena Park man suspected of two sexual assaults at Fullerton College has been arrested

Aris Hyung Yoon, 34, of Buena Park has been identified as the man arrested in connection with two sexual assaults at Fullerton College, according to the O.C. Register.

Yoon was arrested by the Fullerton Police on Feb. 1 but they didn’t released his name because the police officers were still investigating the assaults. The police had revealed at the time that a male suspect was believed to have grabbed two female students in the crotch. Continue reading→

Parolee wanted by the Placentia Police arrested in Fullerton

Angel Ugalde, a 20-year-old parolee that had a warrant out for his arrest since Jan. 25, when police officers tried to arrest him just west of Valencia High School, in Placentia, was arrested on Tuesday by Fullerton Police Officers, according to the O.C. Register.

The Placentia Police had released Ugalde’s picture and warned the public that he was armed and dangerous. Continue reading→

Homeless woman arrested on suspicion of setting fire to a Fullerton carport

Maria Angel Dejesus Rios, a 33-year-old  homeless woman, was arrested on Saturday at 6:15 p.m., on suspicion of setting fires that destroyed five cars in a carport and damaged several others in Fullerton, according to the O.C. Register.

DeJesus was arrested at a homeless encampment in Buena Park, near the 5 and 91 freeways, according to the Fullerton police. Continue reading→

A man was shot and wounded at Orangethorpe School Park on Saturday

An unidentified man was injured in a shooting on Saturday at about 2 p.m., in Orangethorpe School Park, the area of Pacific Drive and Roberta Avenue, according to the O.C. Register.

The shooting was not at the school next to the park, Orangethorpe Elementary School, but rather at the park itself, according to the Fullerton Police Dept. Continue reading→
