FULLERTON CITY COUNCIL HONORS SHARON QUIRK-SILVA
FULLERTON, CA – Former Assemblywoman, Mayor, and City Councilwoman Sharon Quirk-Silva was recognized for her 10 years of service as an elected official during a December 17 Fullerton City Council meeting.
Mayor Greg Sebourn presented a City Council proclamation in front of a capacity audience who showed their appreciation with a sustained standing ovation for Quirk-Silva.
Councilwoman Jan Flory, who requested the proclamation, noted that Quirk-Silva was being inaugurated to the State Assembly in Sacramento when the council reorganized in December of 2012.
“She was not properly sent off,” stated Flory, “I’d like to correct that and thank her for effective representation of our city over the past 10 years.”
Sharon Quirk-Silva thanked everyone in attendance for their support. “I will continue my work as an educator in 2015. In addition I look forward to continuing my civic engagement work in the 65th Assembly District,” stated Quirk-Silva, “There is work to do for our veterans, students, seniors, and families.”
Sharon Quirk-Silva was first elected to the Fullerton City Council in 1994. She served two terms as Fullerton Mayor and one term in the California Assembly. In December of 2014 Quirk-Silva returned to her profession as a teacher in Fullerton. She is now teaching at Parks Junior High.
