U.S. Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, recently announced that he will host the new Korean Ambassador to the U.S., His Excellency Ahn Ho-young, on Tuesday, November 5 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. PT at the Grace Korean Church in southern California.
A long-time friend of South Korea, Chairman Royce has been at the forefront of efforts to strengthen the U.S.-Korea relationship. Royce is the author of recently passed bipartisan legislation that extends the existing U.S.-South Korea Civilian Nuclear Energy Agreement. As former Chairman of the U.S.-Republic of Korea Interparliamentary Exchange, Royce also lead efforts to pass the U.S.-Korea Free Trade Agreement.
In May, Royce played an integral role in inviting President President Park Geun-hye, South Korea’s first female president, to address a joint session of Congress. Afterwards, Royce welcomed President Park to southern California where she addressed the Korean-American community on the 60th anniversary of the U.S.-South Korean alliance.
