County Superintendent of Schools Al Mijares and the Orange County Board of Education awarded the Muckenthaler Cultural Center with an Outstanding Contributions to Education plaque on Thursday, May 16 at the Orange County Department of Education. The Muckenthaler’s Executive Director, Zoot Velasco, and Board President, Fred Ouweleen, accepted the award on the Center’s behalf. The program, which began in the early 1980s, has made an impact in the community by acknowledging the value of giving and honoring those who have offered their time and talents to support education in schools throughout Orange County.
