Assemblymember Lorena Gonzalez has introduced AB 1522, which mandates three days of paid sick leave per year. This mandate would be for all employees (temporary, seasonal, part-time, full-time). The paid sick leave is accrued according to the number of hours worked instead of employee classification. Specifically, AB 1522 mandates one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked. However, an employer may limit the use of any accrued sick leave to three days per year. In order to determine the impact, CalChamber is requesting that you to provide them with responses to the following questions no later than March 14th. Please send your comments to cathy.mesch@calchamber.com.
A sampling of some of the questions that would be helpful for you to answer:
- What is your industry?
- How many employees do you have?
- How many part-time employees vs. full-time employees?
