The Fullerton School District released an official statement regarding the arrest of one of their teachers for alleged sexual misconduct involving students, according to CBS.
Melissa Lindgren, 28, of La Mirada, was charged with multiple felonies, including child molestation, child annoyance and “dissemination of harmful matter to a minor,” Fullerton police said in a statement. The Nicolas Junior High School teacher, who has taught math for six years, was booked and released after posting $100,000 bail, the statement said, according to the L.A. Times.
The school found out about the allegation Friday after one of the victims and his friend reported it to a counselor, Fullerton School District spokeswoman Myrna Marston said. School officials contacted the Fullerton Police Department, and detectives began an investigation. During the investigation, they found out about a second victim, according to a police news release, according to the O.C. Register.
She was arrested within five hours of the boys coming forward. Lindgren is facing multiple felony charges, including child molestation, child annoyance and the dissemination of harmful matter to a minor. Police say that can include sending inappropriate texts, emails or pictures to a minor, according to ABC.
In its statement, Fullerton School District officials said Lindgren admitted her misconduct, and called the situation an “isolated incident.”
