CO-SPONSOR QUOTES
Assemblymember Young Kim:
“I am honored to partner with Board of Equalization Member Diane Harkey to present this Nonprofit Tax Seminar. Nonprofit organizations play an integral role in serving those in our community through providing basic services and filling needs that may otherwise go unmet. It can often be difficult for nonprofits and exempt organizations to navigate the bureaucracy of government while aiming to serve these needs, and this seminar will provide clarity and tangible tools for doing so.”
Assemblymember Ling-Ling Chang:
“As the former President and CEO of the Youth Science Center, I’ve seen the challenges non-profit organizations have in navigating complex tax laws and cumbersome government processes,” said Assemblywoman Chang. She added, “Supporting the work of these organizations who contribute so much to our community is an important step in ensuring programs in education, arts, and human services thrive.”
Orange County Supervisor Shawn Nelson:
“My hope is that this seminar will equip non-profit administrators to efficiently manage their organizations and learn to comply with the State’s tax laws. This event is crucial to the betterment of Orange County, as non-profit organizations have a vital role in improving our communities.”
Fullerton Mayor Greg Sebourn:
“Nonprofit organizations offer services to the community which the government and for-profit businesses cannot or will not provide,” said Mayor Greg Sebourn. “Fullerton’s nonprofits do much of the heavy lifting in our community and provide critical services. Helping them to be successful helps all of us.”
Fullerton Mayor Pro Tem Jennifer Fitzgerald:
“Our communities are being improved every day with the help of local nonprofits,” said Fullerton Mayor Pro Tem Jennifer Fitzgerald. “I am happy to partner with Board Member Harkey in providing valuable guidance for the volunteer organizations that work tirelessly to make Orange County a better place.”
California State University Fullerton:
“We host the Board of Equalization’s Nonprofit Tax Seminar during CSU Fullerton’s Gianneschi Summer School for Nonprofits each year,” said Susan Cadwallader, Director of the Gianneschi Center for Nonprofit Research. “Nonprofits serve such an important role in our society in improving the quality of life in arts & culture, health, education, housing and more for so many. Our Center’s primary mission is to provide access to high-quality educational programs for the nonprofit community in Orange and Los Angeles counties. The BOE Seminar provides insights and expertise available from no other source and is a must attend event for those wanting to succeed in the nonprofit sector.
