We have recently been introduced to Mr. Joe Kerr, former fireman union honcho who claims to be running for 4th District Supervisor. That’s a problem.
Joe and China Kerr have lived at 29 Palma Valley since 1999. The address is in Coto de Caza, a very wealthy enclave in South County – being a “public safety” union boss must pay real well. Unfortunately, Coto de Caza is in the 5th Supervisorial District. Mr. Kerr chooses not to run against the incumbent 5th District Supervisor, Lisa Bartlett. Instead he wants to run for the 4th District seat, obviously because there is no incumbent. Continue reading

SANTA ANA, Calif. – A parolee gang member, who was acquitted by a jury two weeks prior to these charges in a gang-related attempted murder and carjacking case, was convicted yesterday of attempting to murder a Fullerton Police Department (FPD) officer by shooting him several times at close range during a traffic stop. Marcos Allen Bush, 33, was found guilty by a jury on March 15, 2017, of one felony count each of attempted murder, shooting from a motor vehicle, assault with a semiautomatic firearm on a peace officer, and possession of a firearm by a felon, three felony counts of shooting at a residence, and sentencing enhancements and allegations for the personal discharge of a firearm causing great bodily injury, the personal use of a firearm, causing great bodily injury, and a prior strike conviction for criminal threats from 2008. He faces a maximum sentence of 60 years to life in state prison at his sentencing on May 19, 2017, at 9:00 a.m. in Department C-42, Central Justice Center, Santa Ana. Continue reading

FULLERTON POLICE OFFICER CHARGED WITH FILING A FALSE POLICE REPORT
SANTA ANA, Calif. – A Fullerton police officer was charged today with filing a false police report. Miguel Siliceo, 51, Anaheim, is charged with one felony count of false report by a peace officer. The Orange County District Attorney’s Office (OCDA) also gave notice to the court and the defense that the OCDA may seek to introduce evidence regarding the defendant’s conduct in filing a fraudulent insurance claim back in 1999. If convicted, the defendant faces a maximum sentence of three years in county jail. Siliceo is scheduled to be arraigned on April 5, 2017, at 8:30 a.m. in Department C-55, Central Justice Center, Santa Ana. Continue reading

Joseph Burt Felz, 58, Fullerton, is charged with one misdemeanor count of driving under the influence of alcohol and one misdemeanor count of hit and run with property damage. If convicted, Felz faces a maximum sentence of one year in county jail. The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on April 3, 2017, at 8:30 a.m. in Department N-8, North Justice Center, Fullerton. SERIAL ARSONIST ARRAIGNED FOR SETTING MULTIPLE FIRES AT APARTMENT COMPLEX IN FULLERTON
SANTA ANA, Calif. – A serial arsonist was arraigned today for setting multiple fires at an apartment complex in Fullerton. Esther Eunjung Cha, 24, Fullerton, is charged with four felony counts of arson of another’s property, two felony counts of attempted arson, one misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substance, and one misdemeanor count of possession of controlled substance paraphernalia. If convicted, Cha faces a maximum of eight years in state prison and is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing on March 2, 2017. The time and location are to be determined. Continue reading
24-year-old Eun “Esther” Cha has been arrested as a suspect in the setting of up to 28 fires in Fullerton since September, according to the O.C. Register.
Local authorities have been asking for tips from the public after discovering fires in public places including garbage bins, mailboxes, bushes and even an automobile. Continue reading
Lost in plain sight…FFFF has been busy detailing the ridiculous waste of public money that is poured into a PR outlet pretending journalism called Behind the Badge. This on-line enterprise provides happy, pro-cop stories that are meant to put the police in a good light by sharing feel good stories of philanthropy, charity, empathy, blah, blah blah. The editor, Bill Rams, says his business is necessary because the innocent and naive cops are just so doggone rotten at tooting their own horns. So we pay to have our own force shoved back at us as veritable paragons of virtue. Is there a single person in Fullerton taken in by this claptrap?
Anyway, a few weeks ago I posted a letter that had been sent to our mayor, Bruce Whitaker, about the Back the Badge contract, an irresponsible, staff-driven, no-bid, fixed-fee arrangement that has no intelligible scope of work, no way to measure effectiveness, and the management of which had been badly bungled by former City Manager Wild Ride Joe Felz. Now that the City of Fullerton is finally admitting that our budget is not balanced!, contrary to Jennifer Fitzgerald’s campaign claims, this would be a good time to revisit how we got here in the first place.
The City of Fullerton website includes links for the minutes and agenda for the last four years of city council meetings and beyond and can be found here. You’ll find that on October 20, 2015, Fitzgerald voted for the Memorandum of Agreement with the Fullerton Municipal Employees Federation 1200 (resolution 2015-52), at a cost of $5,595,576 over the next four years, and then voted for the contract at the second reading on November 3, 2015. Yesterday, one of our Friends shared a rather entertaining video clip of our lobbyist-councilwoman Jennifer “SparkFitz” Fitzgerald unburdening herself of thoughts at Grace Winter Fest. Her interlocutor is Sam Han, her former Planning Commission appointee, and the guy who stood up and said his church, Grace Ministry International, supported the bar owner’s council districting map.
