With 2013 at an end, the beginning of a new year is the time both to reflect on the past and to look to the coming year. Have you thought about your 2014 New Year’s resolutions? The California Office of Traffic Safety would like to encourage you to add driving safely to your list for 2014 and beyond.
I resolve to always drive sober:
- Not to drive if I’m impaired by alcohol or any legal or illegal drug or medication
- To call 911 if I see someone I think is driving drunk
- Not to knowingly let anyone drive buzzed, drunk or drugged
- To be the designated sober driver for my friends or family whenever they ask
- To stay sober if I am the designated driver
- To support the sober driver in my group
I resolve to not drive distracted:
- Not text or talk on my cell phone while driving
- To not call or text anyone when I think they may be driving
- To be a good example for my kids and not text and talk while driving
