Where does the FPD get these officers?
By Barry Levinson | As reported in this past Sunday’s edition of the Orange County Register, Fullerton police corporal Hugo Garcia “has been charged with felony counts of grand theft by false pretense and embezzlement by debtor of security agreement.” He is scheduled to appear in court for arraignment on March 14.
When will Police Chief Dan Hughes acknowledge that for a relatively small department the FPD has had more than its share of officers who have conducted themselves in a manner that is embarrassing to both the city and our community? This is not to mention the catastrophic consequences that have lead to civilian deaths and millions of dollars of our tax money that has and will be spent to clean up the FPD mess. Dan, your silence is deafening.
It’s past time for the federal government to step in and do a complete investigation of the FPD. It has become crystal clear that the proper reforms will not be forthcoming under the leadership of current Police Chief Hughes.
