On Saturday Oct. 26, Share & Do Good boutique invites its Orange County neighbors to enjoy a birthday cupcake, sale and something a bit non-traditional — the opportunity to learn how the store’s sponsored organizations are changing the world.

The “do good” boutique only features brands whose main goal isn’t merely to incur a profit, but to incite change across the globe. Share & Do Good owner, Lily Tokuyama, heavily researches the products she sells and companies she represents to make sure they are authentic in purpose and mission before adding them to the shelves in her shop.

The officers and members of the Woman’s Club of Fullerton are very pleased to announce that they raised over $2,000 at their September Quartermania, a high-energy event where participants bid on donated items from local vendors.

“The members of the Woman’s Club of Fullerton vote to support a charity that serves Fullerton each year,” said President Norma Ames, “We hope the money we raised will help fellow community members in times of need.”

The Woman’s Club of Fullerton, founded in 1902, is dedicated to uniting women of all ages for community service, supporting charitable organizations, fostering friendship and empowering women through learning about the community around us.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. In observation, WTLC is sponsoring a free 5K “Walk for Awareness” from 8 to 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 28 in Anaheim. Walkers will organize at the corner of W. Vermont Ave. and Anaheim Blvd., in Walnut Grove Park, 905 S. Anaheim Blvd.

The approximately 3-mile route will follow south on Anaheim Blvd., west on W. Ball Road, north on Harbor Blvd., east on Lincoln Ave., south on Anaheim Blvd., ending at Walnut Grove Park.

The Muckenthaler Cultural Center received $6,144 to continue and expand its successful programs with Project Hope School, a school for homeless children and Imperial Middle School, a Title I School. The program will reach 280 students for a total of nine hours per week in the school.

The California Arts Council announces funding for its 2012-13 Artists in Schools Program. Artists in Schools supports professional teaching artists in classroom and after-school settings. The 2013-14 Artists in Schools Program will provide funding for 118 arts organizations to help bring instruction in music, theater, dance, visual arts, and other art forms to children statewide during the school year.

The Fullerton Museum Center is pleased to announce The Art of Seating: 200 Years of American Design, from October 26 through December 31, 2013.

The Art of Seating provides audiences with a unique opportunity to see chair types that usually reside in private homes, withheld from public display. The American Chair Collection, the center of this exhibition, is an amazing and comprehensive private collection of iconic and historic chairs reaching back from the mid-1800s to pieces from today’s studio movement. The exhibition provides an opportunity to see readily recognizable pieces alongside those rarely seen by the public.

SoCalGas is upgrading approximately six million natural gas meters, by installing advanced meters throughout its service territory, including Fullerton. Installations are taking place throughout southern California and will continue through 2017. Portions of Fullerton are slated to receive the device later this summer, with the remainder of the city schedule for installations in 2015. SoCalGas will notify customers a few weeks prior to their advanced meter installation.

The advanced meter device enables SoCalGas to more efficiently serve its customers and empower them with more information about their gas usage so they can make more informed decisions and better control their energy bills. With the additional information advanced meters provide, customers can better understand and manage gas use and costs, identify sudden usage spikes, obtain information on energy usage online, and have more privacy and security.
