Governor Brown signs Assemblywoman Quirk-Silva’s AB 221 to encourage recycling
SACRAMENTO, CA– Today, Governor Jerry Brown singed an important piece of legislation in the continuing fight for improved environmental quality.
Assembly Bill 221, authored by Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva (D-Fullerton), states the environmental benefits of recycling reclaimed concrete materials when making new concrete. The bill was passed by the legislature in August with bipartisan support and was supported by California Construction and Industrial Materials Association, California Construction and Trucking Association and the American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees. This piece of legislation reaffirms these organizations’ commitment in complying with best practices for recycling concrete.

Suspect Arrested in Connection with Yorba Linda Arson Fires
YORBA LINDA, CA – (August 26, 2013) – On Sunday August 25, 2013 an arrest was made in connection with three (3) arson fires that were set in the east Yorba Linda area last week. Gabriel Michael Castillo, 19, Anaheim Hills was arrested and booked into Orange County Jail on charges of arson following a collaborative investigation by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department (OCSD), Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA), Anaheim Police Department (APD) and Anaheim Fire & Rescue (AF&R). Senate Republican Leader Bob Huff (R-Diamond Bar) is pleased to announce that staff from his District Office in Brea will hold three different Mobile District Office events next week in Orange County cities covered by the 29th Senate District.
Mobile District Offices will be held in the communities of Stanton, Anaheim and La Habra. The events will feature staff members who are fluent in English, Spanish, Mandarin and Cantonese at the Stanton location, and English and Spanish at the Anaheim and La Habra locations.
“My commitment is to reach out to as many constituents as possible,” said Senator Huff. “I understand that not everyone has the time to visit my District Office in Brea. Mobile District Office events like this offer constituents the chance to meet with members of my staff on a one-on-one basis in the city where they live.”
