Free OC Parks Sports Day set for July 20, at Craig Regional Park

OC Parks Sports Day is set for Saturday, July 20, 2013, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Craig Regional Park, located at 3300 State College Blvd., in Fullerton.

Event and parking are free and lunch will be provided. Activities and crafts provided for children under 6. Medals will be given to selected children participating in each sport.

The 2013 OC Fair Celebrates Orange County Communities with “Summer In The Cities” Promotion

Costa Mesa, Calif. (June 28, 2013) – The OC Fair is celebrating the spirit of the community with its new Summer In the Cities programming, which includes local entertainment, exhibits and discounts for residents.

On specific days, representatives and residents from cities in Orange County will lead Fairgoers in a Community Flag Salute and singing of the National Anthem at 12:30 p.m. in front of The Hangar. Also, residents of the featured city can enjoy discounted Fair admission with their Summer In the Cities coupon, available at their local city hall or library.

City of La Habra to host the Vietnam Veterans Memorial “the Wall that Heals”

City to Host Vietnam Veterans Memorial: The Wall that Heals

The City of La Habra and American Legion Post 267, La Habra will host the Vietnam Veterans Memorial: The Wall that Heals at La Habra High School Football Stadium Thursday, July 11, 2013 through Sunday, July 14, 2013. The Wall that Heals is a half-size replica of the original Washington, D.C. Vietnam Veterans Memorial. An effort was initiated in 2010 to bring the Wall to La Habra, and in early January we received a call from the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall Foundation letting us know that our request was approved.

Raul Luna, Chairman of the event’s Executive Committee, worked with City staff to form seven committees that will organize and manage activities scheduled during the Wall’s stay. The process began in February and will continue through the exhibit. The City is still looking for volunteers and sponsors to help make this a memorable community event. The primary goal is to memorialize those who made the ultimate sacrifice, recognize those who served in the armed forces, and educate the community about patriotism through our committees, sponsors and special ceremonies. Road Closures SR-57 North

Ramp closures and lane reductions will occur from Katella Avenue to Imperial Highway as crews perform concrete paving, pin K-rail, strip stem walls and Fiberglass-Reinforced Plastic deck.

Daytime closures will occur between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., and nighttime closures will occur between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Monday 7/1 to Wednesday 7/3.  For more information  see the link below:

Leadership Fullerton Class Celebrates Commencement

Leadership Fullerton Graduation 2013

The Fullerton Chamber of Commerce’s second Leadership Fullerton class celebrated the completion of the ten month program with a commencement ceremony June 27, 2013 at the Fullerton Public Library.

2012-13 Leadership Fullerton class.

Class speakers included Theresa Stachelski, Guild Mortgage; Sgt. Tony Bogart, Fullerton Police Department; Katie Gladding,  Hope International University; and Frankie Garcia, Expitrans, Inc.  Gizi Clemmer, 2012 graduate, was keynote speaker for the ceremony.

Graduates of the 2012-13 class are:
