Apparently charges have been dropped against former State Assemblyman Chris Norby, who was wrongfully accused of spousal abuse by his wife, Martha, who Chris says actually beat him – causing permanent damage to one of his eyes. Here is Norby’s latest email update:
Dear Friends, Family and Supporters:
I thank the Orange County District Attorney’s Office for taking a careful and objective look at the circumstances of my arrest by Fullerton Police officers on March 12. No charges will be filed. The case has been dropped.
I thank you, my friends and family, for your love and support through this ordeal. You know the truth; that my children and I have suffered a terrible injustice. My youngest son, Johnny, and I have been reunited after a three week separation. His eyes lit up when he saw me the first time, and we’ve had such a wonderful time playing, learning and exploring together. Now, I seek to restore my relationship with Ana, Gary and Iris. Though not their father in flesh and blood, and am their father in my heart; the only one they’ve really ever had.
My arrest was totally unjustified. There was no evidence, there were no witnesses. I was treated with disdain and hostility by those sworn to protect me. Many of you have impugned political motives based on my past and potential future political activities. In the end, however, a thorough investigation and interviews by the D.A.’s office served the interest of justice.
I’m in the process of picking up the pieces of my family life. Being the best dad I can be and providing my kids with the loving and stable home they deserve continues to be my only priority–and the highest calling a man can have.
