IRVINE – Last night, the Irvine City Council made history by unanimously voting to designate up to 125 acres of the Great Park, former Marine Corps Air Station at El Toro, for an Orange County Veterans Cemetery.
“The City Council’s decision to honor our veterans through the establishment of a veterans cemetery in Orange County is to be commended. Their strong support in designating a significant portion of the Great Park for this meaningful cause is a major step forward. I am proud to represent Orange County – a county that honors, respects and serves our nation’s greatest heroes. I look forward to working with the City of Irvine, community stakeholders, and my colleagues in the Legislature to make a veterans memorial park and cemetery a reality,” said Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk Silva.
