Sacramento – Senate Republican Leader Bob Huff (R-Diamond Bar) supports Governor Brown’s upcoming trade mission to Mexico. Huff is a joint author with Senator Lou Correa (D-Santa Ana) of Senate Bill 928 — bi-partisan legislation to open a California Trade Office in Mexico.
“Mexico is our top market for California’s exports,” said Huff. “In 2012, California trade with Mexico totaled $62 billion, which supported 692,000 California jobs. Yet, while twenty-three other states have trade offices in Mexico, California does not. SB 928 will correct that issue and help create more jobs for Californians.”
Last year, Senator Huff hosted Congressman Salvador Barajas Del Toro from the state of Jalisco, Mexico on a successful two–day visit that encouraged cooperation between California and Mexico. That visit inspired Senator Huff to begin working on SB 928 this year.
