SACRAMENTO – Following the announcement this evening that California will submit a proposal to Boeing tomorrow to host production of the 777X project, Senate Republican Leader Bob Huff (R-Diamond Bar) issued the following statement:
“Californians should expect a government that works for them. Our unemployment rate remains higher than the national average at 8.7% so it’s critical that we compete for every possible job. Senate Republicans applaud the Governor’s engagement in responding to the request for proposal from Boeing. The new Boeing 777X project could generate as many as 20,000 jobs by 2020.
“California offers an attractive location for Boeing along with many impressive benefits. We have an exceptional Boeing facility already in place in Long Beach with first-class infrastructure including a deep water port. Even better, there is already a highly professionalized, highly educated workforce with the experience to do this work. In other words, we can hit the ground running quickly with minimal ramp-up time.
