Fullerton real estate firm CENTURY 21 Discovery partnered with members of the Leon Owens Foundation to participate in the 12th annual Donate Life Run/Walk on April 26 at Cal State Fullerton. The firm has been a sponsor of the Run/Walk since its inception and put together a team to participate in the 2014 event in honor of Marv Owens, a 2013 kidney transplant recipient.
CENTURY 21 Discovery management has known Owens for years and asked him to share his story at a recent sales meeting.
Owens attended Fullerton High School, was an all-conference quarterback for Fullerton College, and played at San Diego State and for the St. Louis Cardinals. He recounted his struggles with diabetes and a heart attack, and about his experience with dialysis and receiving a call telling him that a transplant kidney had become available to him.
He is a member of the Fullerton family that founded and manages the Leon Owens Foundation, which awards scholarships to local college students in honor of the late Leon Owens.
