BUENA PARK – After an even first quarter, it seemed like the crowd at Buena Park High School was in store for a competitive game. Instead, they saw a dominant effort by Buena Park as they beat Fullerton 68-40 in Freeway League action Friday night.
Elijah Jones-Church led the Coyotes in scoring with 18 points, while Fullerton’s sophomore sharpshooter Stone Sinek scored 18 as well.
The game started of well for Buena Park, as the Coyote’s guard Cameron Dashiell scored the first eight points of the game to take an 8-0 lead. Fullerton was able to start scoring and found themselves up 15-14 at the end of the first quarter.
Once the second quarter began, it was all Buena Park. The Coyotes (17-2, 1-1) opened the quarter on a 16-0 run that was led by Jones-Church, who scored 12 of his 18 in that quarter. It took over five minutes for Fullerton to score in the quarter, as Eddie Bair hit a jump shot to end the scoring drought.
The Indians (4-11, 0-2) were only able to score six points in the quarter, while Buena Park scored 24 points to take a 38-21 lead at halftime.
