Arrested: Keith Richard Freeman, Male White, 32-year-old resident of Fullerton
On January 31, 2015 at approximately 5:00 am, a residential burglary occurred in the 500 block of Via Lido Nord. The burglary was classified as a “hot prowl”, meaning that there were residents inside the home at the time of the incident. Investigation revealed that, while the victims were upstairs asleep, an unknown suspect entered the home through a basement window, removed a car key from the kitchen counter, and stole a white Toyota Camry that was parked on the street. Other than the items that were in the vehicle at the time of the theft, there was no additional property taken during the incident.
The next evening, the victims reported additional suspicious activity at their home, leading investigators to believe that the suspect was still in the area.
On February 8, 2015 at approximately 12:30 pm, the Newport Beach Police Department received a tip that the stolen Camry was seen near the victims’ home. Officers responded to the scene and located the vehicle and its driver, Mr. Keith Richard Freeman.
Mr. Freeman was interviewed and subsequently arrested for the theft of the vehicle; detectives will be requesting additional charges in reference to the residential burglary. He is currently in custody in Orange County Jail, where he is being held without bail. Investigators have recovered all of the personal property that was stolen along with the vehicle, except an iPhone which is still outstanding.
