The Fullerton Chamber of Commerce works with local government and landowners to assure that sufficient housing is available within the city and surrounding areas to accommodate economic development in Fullerton. To that end, the Fullerton Chamber supports policies that facilitate and assist the creation of Laurel Homes, a new residential community proposed by Watt Communities at 3125 N. Laurel Avenue.
The aforementioned proposed residential project promotes the highest and best use of land and best practices when meeting the need for housing in Fullerton. The development would contribute to the availability of a full range of housing options necessary to accommodate Fullerton’s population and economic growth. Furthermore, it would help to provide the necessary supply of homes to meet employers’ workforce needs.
Changing the zoning on the proposed home site would allow construction of 32 homes and would generate additional property tax income for Fullerton. Fullerton Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Theresa Harvey asserted that the project would also create ongoing economic development benefits for the city as a result of the generation of sales tax captured through the spending habits of the new homeowners.
