Local author, restaurateur, and CSUF alumnus Michael S. Oates will discuss his historical-fiction novel, “Wade in the Water,” during the Fullerton Public Library Foundation’s Sixth Annual Author’s Luncheon on Saturday, August 23, at the Alta Vista Country Club, located at 777 Alta Vista St. in Placentia.
“Wade in the Water” tells the story of the 1889 Johnstown, Pennsylvania flood, the fourth largest natural disaster in our nation’s history.
The event, benefitting the Foundation’s support of the Fullerton Public Library, includes a no-host reception and silent auction at 11 a.m., followed by a luncheon at noon. Reservations for the luncheon are due by August 15. On-line reservations can be made at fullertonlibraryfoundation.com. Tickets are $65 each.
Over the past 16 years, Oates, a Texas native, has grown his southwestern style restaurant, Café Hidalgo, into a thriving fixture in his resident town of Fullerton. He has been recognized for achievements in the restaurant industry by California State Senator Mimi Walters, and U.S. Congressman Ed Royce.
