The Disneyland Resort called the OCCC to clean up a two-mile stretch of flood channel near the theme parks. OCCC crews remove graffiti and trash from the channel before it reaches the ocean. The OCCC and the Adopt-a-Channel project were featured in the Orange County Register and in videos on ABC and PBS.
Another recent project for OCCC crews involved clearing the Laguna Canyon Creek. They picked up debris and removed non-native plants from the creek’s banks in order to keep the flood channels unobstructed. The creek flooded in the storms of 2010, with water up to 12 feet in places, so these preventative measures will protect the area from winter weather. Click here to see OCCC featured in the press!
